Another Valentine's Day tip..
Share a Life (But Not a Toothbrush)
For many couples, a big relationship step is keeping a toothbrush at each other’s place. Just make sure you each have your own because sharing toothbrushes also means sharing germs.

Our Valentine's Day tips continue..
Beware Bad Breath!
Bacteria is a big culprit of bad breath, so regular habits like brushing and flossing are especially important. Other ways to stay fresh are over-the-counter antimicrobial mouthwashes or chewing sugarless gum. Both can freshen your breath instantly and get saliva flowing—especially after you eat foods with a strong scent.

It's almost Valentine's Day. As we get close to our sweeties, we are sharing some tips to make your mouth Extra kissable for Valentine's Day! So... PUCKER UP!!

Here’s what you need to know about making your smile a vision of love for February 14.
Cavities Can Be Contagious
Whether through kissing or something as simple as sharing a fork, the bacteria that causes cavities can spread to another person. Brush twice a day for two minutes and clean between your teeth once a day for cleaner kisses and a cavity-free smile.

Its icy out there! Slips on the ice can =BROKEN TEETH!
If you have a broken tooth, see your dentist as soon as possible. Your dentist can figure out if the break was caused by a cavity, and if the tooth's nerve is in danger. A damaged nerve usually will require root canal treatment.

Until you get to the dentist's office:
1)Rinse your mouth well with warm water.
2)Apply pressure with a piece of gauze on any bleeding areas for about 10 minutes or until the bleeding stops. If this doesn’t work, use a tea bag with pressure on the area to stop the bleeding. 3) Apply a cold pack to the cheek or lips over the broken tooth. This will help reduce swelling and relieve pain.
4)If you can't get to your dentist right away, cover the part of the tooth that is in your mouth with temporary dental cement. You can find this at a drugstore.
5)Take an over-the-counter pain reliever.

It is important to know the early signs of ORAL CANCER. If you are experiencing any of the following for more than 2 weeks you should see a dentist or doctor for a diagnosis:
-difficulty chewing or swallowing
-a lump or sore area in the mouth, throat or on the lips
- a white or red patch in the mouth
-difficulty moving the tongue or jaw
-unexpected weight loss
-a sore or ulcer that does not heal or bleed
-tenderness, pain, or lumps anywhere in the mouth or on the lips
-persistent hiccuping
However, it is important to remember that these are NOT definitive signs of oral cancer, but may be caused by other conditions, such as an allergy or an infection.
