Adopt a Highway cleanup 2023 completed this past Friday just outside of Campbell River from Duncan Bay Road to Race Point Road. Our 11 volunteers came together to pick up over 15 bags of garbage over a 4.8km stretch of highway - well done!

So proud of Bonnie and the whole Tour de Rock team - it’s an honour to donate to such an amazing cause!

Dr. Dennis had been hinting of a large donation coming closer to Tour and did he ever deliver! Over the weekend Discovery Passage Dental and Implant Centre donated $5,000 and has pushed my total donations over THIRTY SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS! As a thank you, I took him on a mountain bike ride (our first in weeks!) where he said "you're hard to keep up with now!" 😂

What is the Right Way to Floss?

Proper flossing removes plaque and food particles in places where a toothbrush cannot easily reach — under the gumline and between your teeth. Because plaque build-up can lead to tooth decay and gum disease, daily flossing is highly recommended.

To receive maximum benefits from flossing, use the following proper technique:

Starting with about 30-45 cm of floss, wind most of the floss around each middle finger, a few cm of floss to work with
Holding the floss tautly between your thumbs and index fingers, slide it gently up-and-down between your teeth
Gently curve the floss around the base of each tooth, making sure you go beneath the gumline. Never snap or force the floss, as this may cut or bruise delicate gum tissue
Use clean sections of floss as you move from tooth to tooth
To remove the floss, use the same back-and-forth motion to bring the floss up and away from the teeth

What you should do between each dental visit?

Brush your teeth at least twice a day. Be sure to use a toothpaste that contains fluoride. Floss daily.

Use a mouthwash to help control plaque bacteria. This will also help to keep your breath fresh.

Discovery Passage Dental and Implant Centre in Campbell River is looking for a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join our well established, very busy practice. Our office provides exceptional family dental care and is patient focused, not corporately driven. We have an amazing staff and we are excited to offer this opportunity for another RDH to join our team. Our hygienists utilize Vatech CMOS digital x-ray sensors and the Nu-Bird HVE Mirror System in the care for their clients. Hours would be Monday - Thursday, 8:45am - 5:00pm; however, there would be some flexibility in hours for the ideal candidate. This is a superb earning opportunity with the wage being $50-$55 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Dr. Dennis graduated from the dental program at the University of Manitoba in 2006 where he also received his diploma in Dental Hygiene and Bachelor of Science degree. His passion is restoring his patient’s function with dental implants but he also enjoys all aspects of general family dentistry. Dr. Dennis believes in ethical care and takes pride in treating others as he would want to be treated himself.
