MOUTHWASH: Rinsing for 30 seconds with a mouthwash formulated for dry mouth can provide soothing moisture for up to four hours. You can use these alcohol-free mouthwashes up to five times daily to ease dryness.

LOZENGES: Dry mouth lozenges are easily popped anytime your mouth feels dry. Many contain a natural sweetener called xylitol, which helps stimulate salvia. Look for these in the diabetic section of the drugstore.

SPRAY: Dry mouth sprays are spritzed directly into your mouth for immediate hydration.

GEL: Dry mouth gels are applied directly to your tongue so you can spread the gel throughout your mouth to lubricate it.

DISCS: Dry mouth discs stick to your teeth or gums to keep your mouth hydrated. They slowly release xylitol, to increase saliva flow, and can even be worn overnight.

To soothe your teething baby, gently rub their gums with a clean finger, cold spoon, or a moist gauze pad. Avoid using numbing gels as they may be hazardous to your baby's health. Letting your baby chew on a solid rubber soother can help to ease their pain as well. You’re able to remove plaque at home by brushing and flossing, but calculus (hardened plaque, sometimes called tartar) is something that can only be removed by a dental professional. It requires scaling above and below your gumline with special instruments, and you’ll leave with smoother, cleaner teeth and healthier gums.
