I just published my latest Book Report about the business book Rainmaker Confidential by Henry DeVries, Scott Love and Mark LeBlanc.
it's worth the read...

I first heard Mark LeBlanc, CSP, CPAE speak at virtual Dental Speakers Bureau meeting during Covid time. His simple, practical, effective approach to building a business resonated with me and his book Build Your Business is an annual read for me now.

It is the beginning of September (is it really? Already?). The rush towards Fall, the start of school, so much change...we forget to ensure we look after ourselves too.
Remember, self-care is not selfish. And with those thoughts in mind, please enjoy this months Action for Happiness, Self-Care September

Thumb sucking, soother use and more is a controversial issue producing incredible anxiety and emotional responses from kids and parents.
I, personally, am pretty relaxed about it. Most of the time (seriously, most of the time!) it is no big deal. Sometimes, the active sucking motion can alter the growth of the upper and lower jaws and teeth position. The good news? it can be fixed with modern orthodontic techniques.
Sucking is a psychological habit. It gives the young mind comfort in a stressful world.

nevertheless, you can read more about this topic in my blog here

FOR MOST YOUNG children, thumb sucking and pacifier use are completely normal. These habits...

When a person dies, on their tombstone, or their obituary, we often see a birthdate and death date and a dash between them.
In the book The Dash, by Linda Ellis and Mac Anderson, they discuss how that dash represents a rich life of experiences, knowledge, wisdom and more.
And along came Gilbert B**g and Hafiz Mitha, who created a podcast titled "Between Two Dots". Their philosophy unknowingly echoed the theme of the The Dash book.
And in their podcast they endeavour to explore people all over the world, from all walks of life, to discuss their 'dash' or 'two dots'.
I was intrigued.
And then Gilbert reached out to me and requested an interview for their podcast. It resonated deeply with me.
And now that podcast has been released.
Give it a listen and hope you enjoy it

When I started my speaking career, one of the things I learned is that when I prepare to speak, if I stand in the Superman pose (stand up straight with your hands on your hips, looking confident) it will improve my confidence and performance.

And Smiling is also something that the simple act of doing it changes us physiologically and psychologically, as well as positively influencing all who we come into contact.

You can read more about it in my blog below

Yesterday, the team at Wildwood Dental Calgary and extra members of TREC Dental across many clinics joined us for a 6 hour 'free dental day'.
we offered a first come-first served opportunity to have one dental issue addressed...an extraction, a filling, other emergency procedure, a complete exam or professional hygiene services.

At first I was skeptical. Opening it up broadly might have many people simply seeking something for free that they could pay for.

The result was anything but. The people we had the privilege to serve and help truly needed what we provided. By the time we were done, we saw more than 45 people and provided over $12,000.00 in free dental services making a difference in their lives (and ours).

I am proud of the team I get to work with every day, and the team from other clinics who also showed up and helped us help others.

I do not know when, but we will do this again.

I have been a dentist for over 39 years (I still don't believe that number). I have had the privilege of treating 4 generations of families. And recently been blessed with a number of babies coming into my care. Naturally, new parents have lots of questions and I answer some of them in my blog below.

WATCHING YOUR BABY grow is full of milestones, and one of the most anticipated...
