Toothpaste...do we need it? Does it really help? The short answer is yes. Unlike the video that states otherwise, the newest toothpastes not only have ingredients which help prevent cavities, they also have ingredients that are anti-bacterial for reduction of periodontal infections (gum disease).
But don't use too much. For larger children and adults, the amount on your brush about the size of one pea is enough. And for little kids, the amount on your brush about the size of a grain of rice. We don't need much for it to be effective.

September 8, 1966, Star Trek (The Original Series or TOS) aired its first episode in the USA (September 6 the same episode aired, two days earlier, in Canada).
60 years of Star Trek. Many movies and multiple series have been shown over the decades since then. Even today, new episodes, new stories, new explorations all grounded firmly in science, continue to be written, aired and enjoyed.

Star Trek was my first passionate love of science fiction storytelling and continues to be a big part of my life.

Grateful for all of this.

I first heard Mark LeBlanc, CSP, CPAE speak at virtual Dental Speakers Bureau meeting during Covid time. His simple, practical, effective approach to building a business resonated with me and his book Build Your Business is an annual read for me now.

Thumb sucking, soother use and more is a controversial issue producing incredible anxiety and emotional responses from kids and parents.
I, personally, am pretty relaxed about it. Most of the time (seriously, most of the time!) it is no big deal. Sometimes, the active sucking motion can alter the growth of the upper and lower jaws and teeth position. The good news? it can be fixed with modern orthodontic techniques.
Sucking is a psychological habit. It gives the young mind comfort in a stressful world.

FOR MOST YOUNG children, thumb sucking and pacifier use are completely normal. These habits...
