🦠💥 Have you tried the hygiene laser before? It's tool that our hygienists certified in diode laser therapy can use in conjunction with manual and ultrasonic scalers during hygiene treatments. This type of laser helps to reduce the counts of gingivitis causing bacteria in gum pockets. The diode laser can keep inflammation causing bacteria from re-growing for 4-5 weeks and can stimulate healthy cells to reduce the depths of and heal gum pockets thus improving your oral health!

Lasers can also be used to reduce sensitivity on teeth with exposed root surfaces. As well, our hygiene lasers can relieve pain from lesions inside and around the mouth such cold sores or canker sores and promote faster healing.

Come see one of our wonderful hygienists today to learn how you may benefit from laser therapy to maintain and improve your oral health!

😧 Eeeeek! Why do we recommend brushing for two minutes?

▪️Studies show brushing for 45 seconds removes 26% less plaque than brushing for two minutes. Consistently leaving this much plaque behind over time can lead to so many avoidable issues!

▪️The sticky plaque biofilm hides in between the teeth and below the gum line so diligent brushing and flossing is needed to get into these nooks and crannies.

▪️Brushing twice a day for two minutes prevents the plaque biofilm from sticking to surfaces and evolving into more toxic forms of microbes which begin the process of tartar formation, tooth decay and gum disease.

▪️Long term accumulation of this harmful plaque biofilm can lead to gingivitis. Inflammation in the mouth has been linked to diabetes, heart disease, strokes and issues in pregnancy.

▪️Even though it can seem like the longest two minutes of your life, be mindful of breaking down the mouth into sections. Brush the inside and outside surfaces of your teeth with the bristles slightly angled towards the gumline to remove plaque below the gumline. Also remember to brush the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Keep a timer on the counter and spend 30 seconds per quadrant in your mouth.

▪️And of course don’t forget to floss in between the teeth and below the gumline where your toothbrush can’t reach!

Information overload⁉️ Come see our Registered Dental Hygienists, Michelle, Chelsea or Amanda M., for a dental cleaning today and they will be happy to coach you!

Even though it’s true that we eventually lose the 20 primary teeth we started with in place of permanent adult teeth, we should still treat them just the same when it comes to dental health.

The earliest evidence of dental care comes from a prehistoric farming village, Mahrgarh, in what is now Pakistan. A total of eleven teeth from nine adults who lived between 7,500 and 9,000 years ago were excavated and contained holes drilled with sharpened flint points.
