Why Oral Surgery May Be Necessary?

Everyone wants to keep a healthy smile for a lifestyle. However, there are instances when your tooth or teeth may need to undergo surgery.

It can be due to a severe infection or high risk of infection, gum disease, overcrowded teeth, impacted wisdom teeth, badly damaged teeth, decayed teeth, or a baby tooth that needs to be removed.

Regardless of the type of procedure that you require, your dentist will only recommend it if other less-invasive options will not be sufficient.

At the end of the day, prevention will always be the more convenient route than correction. Maintaining good hygiene practices will go a long way to avoiding the need for oral surgery or any complex dental procedure.

If your gums are swollen or bleed when you brush your teeth, you may be suffering from gingivitis.

Gingivitis is a gum disease that occurs when the gum tissue around teeth become inflamed. It is typically caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth, which can result in an infection in the gums.

Gingivitis is a mild form of gum disease and is reversible if treated immediately. With the help of a dentist, you can successfully manage it. But if left untreated, it can lead to periodontitis, which is a more severe type of gum disease.

How Clear Aligners Work

Invisalign and clear aligners are a fully-customized process. Your aligners are made especially for you.

We first scan your teeth using 3D technology to develop a treatment plan. We show you how your new smile will look once the treatment is completed. This scan is then forwarded to the manufacturer.

We create a realistic and practical treatment plan to help you achieve the smile you want as soon as possible.

The manufacturer will work on your aligners and once ready, we’ll request you to come in for a fitting. Each aligner has to be worn for about 10 days. On average, 30 to 40 aligners are used by patients. We’ll monitor your teeth to see if they’re progressing as planned.

If, in any case, your teeth aren’t moving as predicted, we will create a new set of aligners for you.

What is a teeth whitening procedure?

Teeth whitening is the process of making your teeth colour lighter. This procedure requires the expertise of dental professionals. If you head to a salon because they offer teeth whitening for a low price, you may be disappointed in the outcome as a thorough cleaning prior to whitening is critical. Talk to your dentist about your options and make sure there are no other concerns that may affect your oral health.

Call to book your cleaning appointment and ask to add a whitening treatment.

Tooth Decay Treatments for Kids

Tooth decay treatment will depend on the severity of the case as well as your child’s age and overall health. Usually, the decay is removed and the area is filled. Fillings are restorations applied to the teeth to repair the damage. They can be direct or indirect.

For direct fillings, the filling is placed directly into the cavity. They are often color-matched to the tooth.

Indirect fillings, on the other hand, include other dental restorations, such as veneers and crown, and may take at least 2 dental visits to complete.

Fillings can also be used to fix misshapen and chipped teeth. While it is crucial to preserve baby teeth, there may be instances when they need to be pulled out. This can be due to advanced tooth decay, gum issues, and extreme pain.

When this happens, your dentist will fill the gap to keep the surrounding teeth from moving.

If you’re concerned about your kid’s response during dental procedures, you may discuss the use of sedation with your dentist. Your dentist will determine whether this is necessary and if it is, will also work with you in developing a treatment plan.

Our primary focus is on providing your child with quality dental care and ensuring their comfort. If we need to schedule multiple appointments for your child as it’s difficult for them to sit still for a long period, we’ll do so.

What Causes Gingivitis, and What Are Its Risk Factors?

Gingivitis is primarily caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth and gums, and plaque can turn into tartar if it is not cleared. The bacteria in plaque, on the other hand, can cause inflammation, which leads to gingivitis. The longer plaque and tartar are on your teeth, the more they irritate the gingiva, which is part of your gum around the base of your teeth. As a result, your gums become swollen.

Moreover, several factors may increase your risk of gingivitis. These include:

Age
Regular smoking
Vitamin C deficiency
Changes in hormones
Certain drugs and medications
You may also be more likely to get gingivitis if you are pregnant, don't take care of your teeth well, have diabetes, or have a history of gum disease in your family.
