If your kids haven't had a cleaning since the fall, now is a good time. Healthy Smiles Ontario covers kids under 18 for basic preventive care.

Summer camps, travel, and busy family schedules make September harder than it looks. Getting it done in May or early June keeps things straightforward.

Quick breakdown: if your household income is under $90K and you don't have private dental insurance, you likely qualify. Coverage goes from 40% to 100% depending on income.

It covers checkups, cleanings, fillings, extractions, dentures, and more. We accept CDCP and do direct billing - you only pay your portion at the appointment.

Worth checking if you've been putting off dental work because of cost.

Good reminder that hard foods and sticky things are among the more common reasons people chip or crack teeth. Not saying skip it - just be aware, especially if you've got older fillings or crowns.

Intraoral cameras cavity detection catches weak spots in enamel before they show up on X-rays.

That matters because catching it early sometimes means no filling. Better brushing and fluoride can reverse early-stage decay if we find it in time.

Finding out six months later when it's progressed to a full cavity means more work, more time, more cost. Early detection is a real advantage.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Dental anxiety is something a lot of people don't talk about, but we see it regularly. Skipping appointments because the thought of sitting in the chair is stressful. Putting off work that's needed because of fear.

We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for patients who need it. You stay awake and relaxed. It takes the edge off without putting you under.

If anxiety's been keeping you away, it's worth knowing there are options.

Usually, no. A natural tooth is almost always worth trying to keep. It functions better, maintains the bone around it, and doesn't require a replacement like an implant or bridge later.

That said, there are situations where extraction makes sense - severe infection, damage below the gum line, or cases where saving it would cost more than the tooth is worth.

We'll give you a straight answer about what your options are.
