🦷 Why are dental x-rays an important part of your dental care? 🦷

Even when your teeth look and feel healthy, there can be changes happening underneath the surface that we can’t see during a regular dental exam.

Dental x-rays give our team a more complete picture of your oral health and help us monitor changes over time. They can also help us plan the right treatment when something needs attention.

X-rays aren’t necessarily needed at every appointment—the timing depends on your individual oral health, age, history, and risk factors. Regular exams combined with appropriate x-rays help us stay one step ahead and keep your smile healthy! 🩵

‼ Saliva does a lot more for your smile than you might realize. ‼

It helps wash away food particles, neutralize acids in your mouth, and provides minerals that help protect and strengthen your teeth. That’s one reason sugar-free gum can be a helpful addition to your oral care routine — chewing stimulates saliva flow.

On the other hand, dry mouth can make it harder for your mouth to protect your teeth. Reduced saliva can increase the risk of cavities, tooth sensitivity, bad breath, and irritation of the gums and mouth.

Dry mouth can have many causes, including certain medications, dehydration, mouth breathing, and other health factors. If you regularly experience a dry or sticky feeling in your mouth, it’s worth mentioning to your dental team.

Keeping your mouth hydrated and maintaining good oral hygiene can go a long way toward keeping your smile healthy.

🦷 Those little teeth matter more than you might think! 🦷

Baby teeth play an important role in helping children eat, speak clearly, and maintain space for their adult teeth. Keeping them healthy can also help children develop positive dental habits from an early age.

We recommend bringing your child in for their first dental visit around age 4, before starting preschool. This gives us an opportunity to check their developing teeth, answer questions, and help make dental visits a comfortable and positive experience.

If you notice anything concerning before then — such as tooth pain, sensitivity, discoloration, or an injury — don’t wait. Give our office a call sooner. Our number is #519-759-1121

Starting early can help set your child up for a lifetime of healthy smiles! 😁
