This video blew my mind. This is by far the best gum disease visual video there is, it's from 's page.
Even when it doesn't hurt, the bacteria and plaque can damage the gums and bone. Dental hygiene cleanings are just as important as fillings for cavities. There has been research to show gum disease can affect heart disease, brain health, and joint replacements. Orthopedic and cardiac surgeons have consulted us prior to undergoing heart surgery or joint replacement for our patients. We're all trying our best to follow the science to make sure our patients can get the best outcomes.

If you'd like to learn more about the research on the effect of gum disease on overall health, let us know!

Crossing the finish line wasn’t just about finishing the 42.2km, it was also about the commitment and discipline it takes with training.

Training taught me that:
• small steps add up
• consistency beats perfection
• community support is key! being part of two run clubs helped me to keep going

In a way, taking care of your teeth is a lot like running a marathon. It’s not about one big effort…it’s about small consistent steps over a long, long period of time. Daily brushing, daily flossing, regular cleanings and checkups….they are the steady steps that keep your teeth strong for the long run. You only have one set of adult teeth, so take care of them well.

Fun fact, did you know Dr. Pham is a runner?! He just finished his first-ever marathon at the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon AND finished his Invisalign treatment at the same time šŸ…šŸ¤£.

Dr. Pham isn’t just passionate about oral health, he’s passionate about being proactive about overall health, including: fitness, nutrition, mental health, and social connections.

Marathon training takes commitment, consistency, and care! The same dedication he brings to his own health is what he brings to his patients at his dental clinic.

Here’s to strong smiles, strong bodies, and strong minds for 2026 šŸ’™āœØ

They wanted to take a tooth out to replace it with an implant. They didn't like how their upper tooth was out of place.
We decided with our patient a better way than removing the natural tooth. It would have cost more to replace a single tooth with an implant and making the nearby teeth all look natural together.

What if we could keep the tooth, create space for it and guide it into a better position? Along the way, what if we could address bite issues, and crowding of the lower teeth as well?
So we did.

The Surprising Details

Micro-movements add up: Invisalign trays apply pressure in fractions of a millimeter, which over time can free up enough room without pulling a tooth.
Facial balance: Keeping all your teeth supports fuller lips and natural facial contours.
Bite harmony: Extracting just one tooth can cause uneven pressure; Invisalign helps avoid this imbalance.
Not always possible: In some complex cases extraction is necessary—but it’s not the default anymore.

What We Learned from This Experience

Instead of thinking extraction, find out if Invisalign can move teeth instead of removing one. A second look and discussion could help you keep your smile complete.

We are thankful for the opportunity to transform smiles through passionate dentistry.

*Long Post Alert*
I’m starting my own Invisalign journey. Because sometimes dentists need some help too. šŸ¦·šŸ‘šŸ˜

As a dentist, I’ve spent many hours helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles. However, when I began experiencing pain in my own front tooth, I realized it was time to turn my professional attention toward myself.

I never had braces as a kid, and I did notice some crowding/overlapping of my teeth, or food would get stuck in a small space here and there. It wasn’t until this incident that I knew it was time to address everything.

Initially, the discomfort seemed minor—just a subtle ache that came and went. But knowing teeth as intimately as I do, I recognized the deeper issue: my bite was uneven, and my teeth were constantly clashing, even during normal everyday activities like chewing, speaking and clenching. This seemingly minor misalignment wasn’t just uncomfortable; it was a clear sign of potential problems ahead. Left untreated, I knew it could lead to tooth fractures, excessive wear, and even chronic pain down the road.

That’s when I made the decision to begin my own Invisalign journey. Invisalign offered the discreet, effective solution I needed without disrupting my professional and personal life. As the aligners gently corrected my bite, the relief was immediate. Not only did my tooth pain fade, but the peace of mind I felt knowing I had proactively prevented future dental complications was invaluable.

Embarking on Invisalign treatment has given me personal insight into the transformative impact orthodontic care can have—not just cosmetically, but functionally. Today, I confidently share my own Invisalign journey with my patients, highlighting the importance of early intervention and proactive dental health. Because sometimes, even dentists need a little help achieving that healthiest smile!

Let the journey begin!
