✈️ Flying too soon after surgery can increase the risk of pain, swelling, bleeding and even complications caused by pressure changes inside the body.

During a flight, cabin pressure changes may affect healing tissues and trapped air spaces, leading to a condition known as barotrauma. This is particularly important after oral surgery, sinus procedures, dental implants, bone grafts or facial surgery.

Your body needs time to heal properly before air travel. Always follow your surgeon’s advice regarding when it is safe to fly after a procedure.

A short flight is temporary. A surgical complication may not be.
