স্কেলিং করালে কি দাতের ক্ষতি হয়???

দাঁত অমূল্য সম্পদ। খাবার চিবানো কিংবা কথা বলতে সাহায্য করা ছাড়াও ভুবন ভোলানো হাসি তৈরিতে দাঁতের জুড়ি নেই। দাঁতের বাইরের ঝকঝকে সাদা অংশকে বলা হয় অ্যানামেল। দাঁতের ক্ষয়রোগ বা ডেন্টাল ক্যারিজের অন্যতম কারণ হলো ডেন্টাল প্লাক। দাঁতের গায়ের এই ময়লা আস্তরণ দাঁত ব্রাশ করে দূর করা সম্ভব হয় না। এ জন্য দাঁত স্কেলিং করতে হয়। কিন্তু অনেকেরই ধারণা, দাঁত স্কেলিং করলে দাঁতের ক্ষতি হয়।

কেউ কেউ ভাবেন, স্কেলিং করালে দাঁত পাতলা হয়ে যায়। প্রকৃত সত্য হচ্ছে দাঁত স্কেলিং করালে দাঁতের ক্ষতি হয় না বা দাঁত পাতলা হয় না। স্কেলিং করালে দাঁত পরিষ্কার হয় এবং মুখে দুর্গন্ধ থাকে না।

আজকাল দাঁত স্কেলিং করার জন্য আলট্রাসনিক স্কেলিং পদ্ধতি ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে। এটি একটি সহজ ও নিরাপদ পদ্ধতি। এই পদ্ধতিতে দাঁতের গায়ে লেগে থাকা ডেন্টাল প্লাক, দাঁতের পাথর ও দাগ দূর করা যায়। দাঁতের এই দাগ এটা-সেটা দিয়ে তোলা উচিত নয়; বরং তাতেই দাঁতের ক্ষতি হতে পারে। স্কেলিং সম্পর্কে অনেক বাজে কথা প্রচলিত আছে। সেগুলোর প্রায় সবই অপপ্রচার এবং অজ্ঞতাপ্রসূত ধারণা।
