Proud to be a part of the LRSF

Today is a very special day for our very first recipient and the Catalyst for the LRSF Inc, Jorja ❤️

2 years 1 month and 5 days ago at Libby’s Farewell I asked this beautiful man, Dr Arun Thangavel if he would help me do something very special for Libby🦋❤️
His answer was “ it would be my honour” 🤍

With the love and support from so many, today Libby’s wish of wanting to give her beautiful friend, the smile she so deserves, came true🤍

Dear Libby,
You lightened our world and our practice in the short time that you were with us. We are all so glad to have met you and worked with you. You brought out the better in all of us. Patients and staff alike were touched by your infectious smile.

Substitution of a canine into a lateral incisor space.

This patient had congenitally missing laterals
incisors and went through orthodontic treatment to move the canines forward. The canines were camouflaged with composite to make them look like lateral incisors. GC Essentia was used along with white effect shades from Inspiro to replicate the incisal effects.

Here’s some tips to get best results with canine substitution:
1 - adjust the shape of the canine prior to orthodontic treatment by flattening the buccal surface, polishing the pointed incisal edge, and adjusting the mesio-distal width.
2 - Ask the orthodontist to supra-erupt the tooth to bring the gingival margin down to a lateral position. 3 - Ask the orthodontist to bring the neck to the tooth in (palatally) to reduce the canine bulge and create space for the restoration.

Canines usually have a bit more chroma in the neck so this needs to be planned for

Restoring an upper premolar with a root cap and ball attachment for an overdenture. The roots were divergent and curved so 2-piece post and root cap were used to give it extra retention.
