We get asked this a lot and it's a great question 🦷💜

The short answer is that it comes down to how much healthy tooth structure is left. A filling restores a tooth when the damage is small to moderate. A crown is needed when the damage is more extensive and a filling alone wouldn't be strong enough to protect the tooth long term.

Neither option is better than the othe, they serve different purposes. What matters is choosing the right one for that specific tooth at that specific time.
