Cleans just got a whole lot different! Gentle Dental now have the EMS Airflow which is like a warm bath...for your teeth!
The dentists spent time doing cleans on each other 1. For empathy 2. Always learning 3. To become a GBT certified practice
The EMS Airflow is like an air and water polisher to remove plaque, it's heated to 40 degrees and so is the scaler so no more sensitive cleans

TODDLER TOOTH BRUSHING TIPS! 🦷👩‍👦🥰👶

It's DENTAL HEALTH WEEK and this year's theme is
Helping kids reach every (S)milestone.

One of the ways parents can help is by ensuring their children start good brushing habits as soon as they have teeth.

Lucky this guy loves a brush and floss 😂😷🦷

In this photo, Mr Truck Loving 3 is lying down with Mum's legs on top of his arms. It helps him by
1. Hug time with Mummy
2. Easier for Mum to brush while behind the head
3. Arms can't come up to push away

More Toddler brushing tips
• Keep it positive! It's normal for toddlers to refuse to brush. They are testing boundaries and need us to guide them to where they are. Brushing is a non negotiable part of a child's health routine like nappy changes or mealtime. There can be variations within the activity but it should be made into a daily habit.
• Acknowledge how they're feeling and their want to do it themselves or refusal to. But still be firm with that it's something that needs to be done
• Don't stress about the technique of plaque removal too much, it's more important to reinforce a positive habit
• Give choices which NO is not a response to. Ask things like "Would you like to brush during or after bathtime?" "Do you want to use your blue or your green brush today?"
• Show pictures or videos of animals and children brushing
• Read books about brushing teeth and visiting the dentist
• Brush with them
• Let them brush their own teeth first and also brush yours. Letting them have a toothbrush or silicon toothbrush style teether to hold and the parent to have another toothbrush to brush their teeth
• Let them see themselves in the mirror
• Scrape food and plaque off to show them the germs
• Sing a song during brushing
• Explain what you're doing and why!
• Toddlers are very clever and love predictability. Sportscast that you're brushing their top molars, now their bottom molars, now their front teeth etc. Explain that you are brushing so the teeth are nice and clean and shiny, for older toddlers can explain about sugar bugs.
• For them to open mouth ask them what a lion/dino says (roarrrr) or can you open as big as a crocodile?
• For brushing front teeth can ask them say cheese or to smile
• If you believe in external rewards then sticker charts, a fun toy etc may be used
• Apps or songs during brushing may help

Did you know this year Gentle Dental has had 2 lovely new dentists join us?

Dr Camila Valenzuela is from Chile and completed her dental university education at Andres Bello University in Santiago, Chile. She is calm, kind and very skilled. Dr Camila is our dentist available until 6.30pm on Wednesday evenings.

Dr Rebecca Vo is a local UWA grad who did time in Mandurah before moving back up to NOR. Country practice has made her very quick and efficient and another dentist who loves to take teeth out! Dr Rebecca is available Monsay, Tuesday and Thursdays.

Happy holidays to our amazing patients!
Most of the Gentle Dental girls went out to mini golf and dinner for the Christmas get together.
We'll be open all days over the Christmas period this year to attend to emergencies and all other dentistry.

Dr Sherry went back to dental school and learnt some new techniques using the materials we already use at Gentle Dental
Dr Sherry and her dentists love learning more about dentistry and keeping up to date with the latest research.
Here she is with some pretty front teeth she's cosmetically improved

Power outage!
We are currently without electricity so aren't able to receive any calls or call our patients. A generator is expected to be here soon so please come to your appointment for now otherwise we'll be in touch!

The Gentle Dental ladies out enjoying their Christmas party evening. In addition to our usuals Dr Sherry, Dr Yasmita, Dr Genevieve, Jasmine, Caitlin we had some new faces for 2023. Dr Zeidri, Dental Nurses Faye and Kathryn. Dr Sally is now back from maternity leave for 2024 and we are missing Amanda, Charlie and Julie who were unable to attend. I'm so proud of how much we've grown and the team we have!
2023 has been a rollercoaster with storms causing power outages, fires threatening our patients homes and the practice and adding more ladies to the mix!
We are open on Wed 27th, Thurs 28th, Fri 29th of Dec and then open for 2024 Wed 3rd of Jan. We all wish our lovely patients a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
