False!

It is recommended to wait up to 30 minutes after eating and drinking before brushing your teeth. It is the best way to protect your teeth and not tampering with your enamel. This also gives your saliva a chance to naturally wash away food particles, so your mouth returns to its proper pH level.

Brushing your teeth is an essential part of maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing dental problems such as cavities and gum disease.

One useful tip to help you brush your teeth more effectively is to use the right technique. Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your teeth and brush in circular motions. Be sure to brush all surfaces of your teeth, including the fronts, backs, and tops.

By following this tip, you can ensure that you're maintaining good oral hygiene and keeping your teeth healthy.

To help you prioritise your family’s oral health, we have outlined a back-to-school checklist!

First, we recommend getting into a good oral hygiene routine. Always remember to brush for 2 minutes twice per day and to floss. Make sure to check your kids technique!

Second, How old is that toothbrush? It can be difficult to remember when everyone changed their toothbrush last. We recommend to use winter and summer school holidays as prompts to switch out that toothbrush. Alternatively every 3-4 months or when the bristles start to splay. Don't forget to restock floss and toothpaste as well.

Third, start making a game plan for healthy lunches and snacks. Send your kids to school with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as healthy proteins like string cheese and yogurt. Variety is key! Consider packing water or non-sugary beverages, and stay away from simple carbohydrates and sticky sugary snacks such as crackers, chips, lollies, and juice.

Last but not least don’t forget to schedule a dental checkup. We recommend grouping your family’s healthcare checkups together. Book today! Before school starts so any issues can be addressed quickly to avoid missing school days.
