📞 Meet Keri — the voice behind Dental Precinct! 😄🦷

If you’ve ever called Dental Precinct and thought, “Wow… she sounds far too cheerful to be working at a dental practice” — you’ve probably spoken to either Keri or Dani! 😂

Keri is one of our wonderful receptionists and quite often the first friendly voice you hear and the smiling face that greets you when you walk through our doors.

She’s a master of answering phones, juggling appointments, keeping the dentists organised (a full-time job in itself 😜) and somehow remaining calm when the rest of us are running around asking:

“Keri… where’s my next patient?”
“Keri… did they confirm?”
“Keri… can you squeeze just ONE more person in?” 🤣

And through it all… she’s still smiling!

We’re incredibly lucky to have Keri as part of the Dental Precinct family. ❤️

So next time you call or visit, make sure you say Hi to Keri! 👋

And remember… be nice to the receptionist — she controls the appointment book. 😏📖🦷

There's a particular smugness that turns up about a month after an implant goes in. It can't decay. Sugar means nothing to it. In theory you could walk it through a lolly shop and let it browse. All of that is completely true — titanium and porcelain have never once been troubled by a chocolate biscuit.

The catch sits just underneath. A natural tooth is slung in by a ligament with its own blood supply and a decent seal where it meets the gum. An implant is fused straight to bone, and the cuff of gum around it is a thinner, less forgiving barrier. Plaque left along that margin gets further, faster, and quieter — that's peri-implantitis, and it's what actually ends implants. Not sugar. Never sugar.

Dental Precinct reviews implants at check-ups and cleans around them with titanium or plastic-tipped instruments, because a steel scaler scratches the implant surface and leaves plaque somewhere to hold on.

🦷 The crown can't decay — the gum and bone holding it very much can 🧵 Superfloss or an interdental brush under the crown, where bristles simply don't reach 🚭 Smoking is the single biggest threat to a long-serving implant 🔧 Screws work loose now and then — a short appointment early, a bigger one later

🦷 Someone really needs to tell Dr Vik that he’s allowed to have normal hobbies… 😂

While normal people fly to Sydney for restaurants, shopping and a weekend away…

Dr Vik flies to Sydney to do advanced surgical training. 🤦‍♂️🦷

Apparently, spending all week looking at teeth wasn’t enough.

His idea of a good time?
✈️ Fly to Sydney
📚 Sit in a course
🔬 Talk about surgery
🦷 Look at MORE teeth
🤓 Come home ridiculously excited about something nobody else at dinner wants to hear about

And just when the team thought he already knew enough… he’s gone and upgraded himself again. 😎

All jokes aside, the training is focused on advanced surgical techniques and the latest approaches to preserving natural teeth and keeping them going for longer.

Because despite how much Dr Vik enjoys surgery, the real win is knowing when NOT to take a tooth out. 🙌

So yes… while Sydney gets the dental nerd for a few days, Townsville gets Dr Vik 2.0 when he comes home. 😂🦷

Same Vik. Same bad jokes. Slightly better dentistry. 😜

A tooth that's snapped off level with the gum looks beyond saving, and most people walk in assuming the conversation will be about extraction. But if the root is healthy and the bone around it is sound, there's often still a foundation there to work with.

A post and core rebuilds the missing structure from the root upwards, creating something solid for a crown to sit on.

Dental Precinct rebuilds broken-down teeth with post and core restorations wherever the root can be saved.

🦷 Uses your healthy root as the foundation instead of removing it ✨ Assessed on X-ray first — not every root can carry one 💬 Usually follows root canal treatment on the same tooth 🪥 Keeps your own root in place, which preserves the bone around it

Crowns don't last indefinitely. The porcelain itself can look perfect while everything around it changes — the gum recedes and exposes a dark line at the margin, the cement seal breaks down, and decay works its way in at the edge where nobody can see it.

Replacing a crown at the right moment matters, because it's the difference between the tooth underneath still being strong enough to hold a new one and it not being.

Dental Precinct assesses ageing crowns and replaces them before the tooth beneath is compromised.

🦷 A dark line at the gum usually means the margin is exposed ✨ Decay at a crown edge is easily missed without X-rays 💬 Replaced in time, the tooth underneath stays restorable 🪥 New crowns shade-matched to your teeth as they look now

In a small number of teenagers, an adult tooth — most often one of the narrow teeth either side of the front two — never forms at all. The baby tooth stays put and slowly loosens over the years, and the gap it will eventually leave sits right at the front of the smile.

Knowing early opens up options: holding the space, closing it with orthodontics, or planning a replacement for once growth has finished.

Dental Precinct assesses congenitally missing teeth in teenagers and maps out the long-term plan.

🦷 Confirmed on an X-ray, often years before the baby tooth gives way ✨ The space can be closed or held, depending on the bite 💬 Implants wait until jaw growth finishes — the plan covers the years between 🪥 Coordinated alongside orthodontic treatment where that applies

Those chalky white squares where the brackets used to sit are early decay — enamel that lost mineral wherever plaque gathered around the bracket edges during treatment. They aren't surface stains, which is why whitening tends to make them stand out more rather than less.

Resin infiltration draws resin into the porous enamel instead, bringing the white patches back towards the shade of the tooth surrounding them.

Dental Precinct treats post-orthodontic white spot lesions with resin infiltration.

🦷 Treats the early decay itself rather than masking it ✨ Explains why whitening made the marks look worse 💬 No drilling and, in most cases, no anaesthetic 🪥 Most effective when done soon after the braces come off
