Dental Health Week will take place from 7 - 13 August 2023 and this year the focus is on the importance of taking steps to care for your teeth and gums to help you keep your teeth and smile for life.

There are links between diseases in the mouth and diseases in the body. Bacteria in the mouth can travel to different sites of the body and inflammation in the mouth can increase the body’s overall inflammation. Six conditions have been explored in how they link with the mouth:

Lung Conditions
Inflammatory Bowel Disease

It is important to maintain good oral health and to keep your teeth for life.

The frequency of eating chocolate eggs and snacking can cause detrimental effects to oral health.
A helpful tip is to enjoy your sweet treats with meals, rather than snacking in between meals. This will help to reduce the frequency of acid attacks on your tooth enamel.
Over the holidays and Easter break, keep up good habits of tooth brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and floss daily. Take a little extra time with bedtime brushing this Easter.
