Did you know one in three adults may experience some degree of sleep apnoea? Dr Michael Cai explains what recent research is telling us. 👀🦷

For a long time, sleep apnoea was thought to mainly affect older, overweight men. Research is now showing that fit, lean, and female individuals can also develop the condition, which means it is more common across a wider range of people than previously understood.

If you have been experiencing low energy, persistent tiredness throughout the morning, or difficulty feeling rested after sleep, it may be worth having a conversation with your medical doctor or dentist. These symptoms can sometimes be associated with sleep apnoea and are worth investigating.

IV sedation sits between local anaesthetic and general anaesthetic. It is carried out right here at the practice, with a specialist monitoring the patient throughout to support a comfortable and well-managed experience.

Here is what patients generally find helpful to know:

✅ You are kept comfortably sedated throughout the procedure
✅ Most patients have little to no recall of the treatment itself

A combined Invisalign and gum graft case by Dr Michael Cai. 🦷

The arrows in the before image highlight two things: misaligned teeth and areas of gum recession where the tissue had pulled back from the tooth surface. Both concerns were addressed as part of a carefully sequenced treatment plan.

Invisalign was used to work toward improving the alignment of the teeth, while gum grafting was carried out to help restore gum coverage over the areas affected by recession. Treating both together required thorough planning to ensure the sequencing of each stage supported the overall outcome.

Gum grafting is a surgical procedure and is not suitable for every patient. Suitability is assessed on an individual basis, taking into account the extent of recession, the condition of the surrounding tissue, and overall oral health.
