A rare case of a DB2! The more you search, the more you find.
49yo male referred to continue endodontic treatment on tooth 16.
Tooth 16 diagnosed with previously initiated root canal treatment and normal apical tissues.
Treatment carried out over 2 visits. A second DB canal was located which merged with DB1 in the middle third. MB1 and MB2 also found to be confluent. All 5 canals filled with GP and a bioceramic sealer.
Tooth was temporised with GIC and the patient was sent back to their dentist for the final restoration.
Although not taken in this case, a small FOV CBCT scan can aid in locating any additional canals together with the use of magnification and illumination. Removing the restoration allows you to visualise the pulp chamber floor.
