A mucocele is a small, fluid-filled swelling that can develop when a minor salivary gland or its duct is damaged or blocked — often after accidentally biting or irritating the inside of the lip.

You may notice:

💠 A soft, smooth bump inside the lip
💠 A clear, bluish or translucent appearance
💠 Little or no pain
💠 The bump shrinking, bursting and returning
💠 A swelling that stays in the same area
