Tips for managing your child’s Halloween sugar stash:
🦷 Store their lolly collection out of sight 👉 less temptation to binge or graze
🦷 Drink lots of water 💦 especially after a sugar fix
🦷 Avoid the hard and sticky lollies, especially if they have braces 😬
🦷 Save them for after a meal 🥗 additional saliva counteracts the acid and there will also be less of a glucose spike
🦷 Maintain regular tooth brushing 2-3 times a day. Brushing straight after eating sugar can do more harm than good, so try and wait 30mins 🪥

Dr Lisa Bowdin travelled to Melbourne this weekend for the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) Annual Convocation where she was presented with her RACDS membership in Paediatric Dentistry. Whilst awarded in 2018, it’s taken four years for the official ceremony to take place, courtesy of COVID.
