CP Dental Mater Hill is pleased to introduce Dr Sophie Phillips.

After graduating from Brisbane Girls Grammar, Sophie embarked on her tertiary education earning a Bachelor of Science from UQ and a research Masters in Environmental Toxicology from QUT. After having long-term positive experiences with dentistry as a patient, Sophie went back to University achieving a Bachelor of Dental Health Science and Masters of Dentistry from Griffith University. Sophie enjoys all aspects of general dentistry placing the utmost importance on patient comfort and experience.
Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time with friends and family, pilates and riding her horses.

This photo shows normal healthy teeth next to teeth that have suffered extensive acid erosion.
We see this sort of wear in cases of excessive soft drink consumption (even diet drinks) juice, lemon and water, kombucha, apple cider vinegar... the list goes on.
Uncontrolled reflux ( heartburn) is also a major contributor to premature tooth wear.
You rarely see this view of your teeth, so in many cases the problem can go unnoticed.
While it can be restored it can be challenging and expensive.
As always, education, early diagnosis, dietary changes and correct use of preventive products is the key.

Introducing our very kind and skilled dentist, Zen D'Souza.
Zen has always been committed to treating his patients as wholistically as possible, as through his years of practice he has understood a very strong link between a patient's dental health and their general health and mental well-being. He strives to give patients the most gentle treatment he can, due compassion for anxious patients, and with his gentle approach comes accelerated healing and minimized discomfort. Additionally, he is certified to offer treatment under "happy gas" nitrous sedation.

Graduating in 2013 from Griffith University in the Gold Coast, Zen has spent his entire career in private practice in Queensland. Originally, growing up in Sydney he has preferred the more relaxed nature of Brisbane to settle down. He also volunteers with several local welfare groups to help vulnerable communities in the area

Zen has spent considerable time on professional development by attending courses, academic events and seminars to allow him to stay up to date in the changing world of dentistry.
On his days off, Zen splits his time between his love of cooking, and obsession with rock climbing and the outdoors.
