For Steph, her first course with the AIA was an intense week at Fellowship 3, in the best way. What stood out was the depth and breadth of knowledge, and how much of it was hands-on: working with models, creating scans, taking and analysing photos face to face, rather than just watching it play out on a slideshow.

Dr Penny Burbidge joined us for Fellowship 1 having never placed an implant, and left having built a foundation from the ground up.

Across the week, she covered everything from medical history and patient screening to pain management, paired with hands-on model sessions that gave her the chance to get comfortable with the instruments and drills before it counts.

What stood out most was the support. Instructors constantly circulating, checking in, and offering feedback, with someone always on hand to answer questions.

For Dr Penny, the journey doesn’t stop here, she’s already set on continuing with Fellowship 2 to build on everything she’s learnt and take it to the next level, back in Adelaide where she practices.
