Meet Anne 🦷✨

We’re excited to welcome Anne back to the Victoria Street Dental team in her new role as an Oral Health Therapist! 🤍

But what exactly is an Oral Health Therapist?

An Oral Health Therapist is a registered dental professional who helps patients of all ages maintain healthy smiles through preventive care, education, and gentle dental treatment. From professional cleaning and gum care to personalised oral health advice and helping little ones build positive dental habits, Oral Health Therapists play an important role in keeping smiles healthy for life. 🌱

Anne’s journey with Victoria Street Dental began as a Dental Assistant, where she discovered her passion for patient care and dentistry. After graduating as an Oral Health Therapist, she is thrilled to return to the team and continue caring for the patients and community she has grown to know and love.

With her gentle approach and warm personality, Anne loves creating comfortable, positive dental experiences — especially for children — helping every patient feel confident and at ease during their visit. ✨

Outside the clinic, Anne enjoys spending time with family, discovering new restaurants, and experimenting with baking recipes 🧁

Welcome back, Anne! We’re so excited to have you as part of our team 🤍

How did you sleep last night?

Sleep apnoea is a common sleep disorder affecting up to 20% of adults — and many people don’t even realise they have it.

Signs can include:
• Snoring
• Daytime tiredness
• Waking up unrefreshed

These symptoms may point to an underlying sleep issue that can be assessed and treated.

Sleep study kits are available for pick-up at Victoria Street Dental, with results discussed in-clinic two weeks later.

This patient presented with an adult tooth that had erupted in the wrong position. In some cases, extraction may be considered, but at Victoria Street Dental, our goal is to preserve healthy adult teeth whenever possible.

Instead of removing the tooth, we carefully guided it into the correct position and aligned it with the rest of the smile. The result is a healthy, functional, and naturally aligned set of teeth without the need for extraction.

Every case is unique, and treatment options are tailored to the individual patient’s needs.

🦷 When Should You See a Dentist for Jaw Issues?

Jaw pain isn’t something to ignore—especially if it’s linked to grinding or clenching (also known as bruxism). Here are signs it’s time to book a dental check-up 👇

⚠️ You wake up with jaw pain or headaches
This could mean you’re grinding your teeth in your sleep.

⚠️ Clicking, popping, or stiffness in your jaw
These are common signs of TMJ (temporomandibular joint) issues.

⚠️ Tooth sensitivity or worn-down teeth
Grinding can slowly damage your enamel—often without you noticing.

⚠️ Facial pain or tension
Chronic clenching puts stress on your jaw muscles and can radiate pain.

⚠️ Difficulty opening or closing your mouth
This could indicate a more serious joint issue that needs attention.

💡 Don’t wait—early treatment can prevent long-term damage and relieve discomfort. Your dentist can assess the cause and recommend solutions like night guards, stress management strategies, or further treatment.

📅 If something feels off, it’s worth getting it checked. Your jaw will thank you!
