Happy International Women's Day from the all female team at Central Periodontics & Implants
In honor of International Women's Day, here are some facts about women in dentistry!
π©β𦳠The first female who worked as a dentist was Emeline Roberts Jones. She started work in 1855 and was self-taught.
π© The first woman to get a degree in dentistry was Lucy Hobbs Taylor, in 1866.
π©β𦱠These days, around half of students graduating from dentistry are female.
π±ββοΈ In 2020, 53.8% of dental practitioners in Australia are female. This includes women registered as general and specialist dentists, dental therapists, oral health therapists, dental hygienists and dental prosthetists.
