Wisdom teeth be lurking 👀

The last set of molars, called wisdom teeth or 3rd molars, can be sneaky little troublemakers who often come through late, when there may not be enough room left in the mouth 😅

Ouch 😩🔥 Mouth ulcers may be tiny… but wow can they STING.

First dental visits matter.…really matter! Kids are so perceptive and a negative first experience sticks 😢💝

At Smile City we don’t just want your child to “get through it” we want them to feel safe, proud, curious and maybe even a little bit excited to come back 🥹🌈✨

At Smile City, we work with you and your little human to make their first dental experience as gentle and happy as possible 🫶

Before we even start, we want to know:

What do they love? 💜
Bluey? Minecraft? Frozen? Dinosaurs? Paw Patrol? Pokémon? 🦖🎮❄️🐾
We can pop their favourite show on the screen 📺✨

Do they want to bring a special toy?
Absolutely. Teddy, bunny, truck, emotional support rock… all welcome 🧸🚗💎

Do they want Mum or Dad close by?
Of course 🥰 Do they want Mum or Dad to hop up on the chair beside them? No problem at all 🪑💜

Do we need to start with just a chat? Easy.

Do we do the first little “exam” in the waiting room instead of the dental chair?
If that’s what helps them feel safe, then yes please 🦷🌈

We can go slow.

👶🦷 Tiny mouths are pretty magical… and they’re learning from the people closest to them from the very beginning ✨🌈

Did you know that some bacteria linked with tooth decay can be shared from parent or caregiver to baby through saliva? 🥄🍼💋

Things like sharing spoons, popping a dummy in your own mouth, sharing toothbrushes or kissing bub on the mouth can all pass saliva between you and your little one.

But before the mum guilt monster enters the chat… absolutely not 🙅‍♀️💜

Cavities are never caused by one thing alone. Teeth, saliva, snacks and drinks, brushing, fluoride and plain old biology all play a part 🦷✨

Clearly I have always been very comfortable with a closed mouth smile 😂🦷

Which is probably why I grew up to create a dental clinic for people who don’t feel like smiling on command, don’t love the dentist, feel awkward about their teeth, have sensitive teeth, anxious kids, changing hormones, tired jaws… or just want someone kind in their corner.

Basically, little Mary grew up and made the dental clinic she would have wanted 💜✨
