We’re excited to welcome Dr Rebecca Turner to the team at Karrinyup Dental Centre!

Originally from Scotland, Dr Rebecca graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2019 before making Perth her home in 2023.

With a particular interest in aesthetic and preventative dentistry, Rebecca loves helping patients feel comfortable, informed and confident about their dental care. She’s especially passionate about making visits a positive experience for nervous patients and little ones alike.

And when she’s not looking after smiles? You’ll likely find her running through the hills, catching waves or spending time with family and friends.

We’re so excited to have Rebecca joining our Karrinyup Dental family, this Saturday!

It’s a question plenty of parents ask, and the answer might surprise you.

You don’t necessarily have to wait until all the adult teeth have arrived before checking how your child’s teeth and jaws are developing. Early orthodontic assessments can help identify things like crowding, crooked teeth, overbites, underbites, crossbites and jaw alignment concerns while your child is still growing.

And an early check doesn’t automatically mean “Right, braces!”

Sometimes it simply means keeping an eye on development and understanding whether treatment may be helpful now or later.

It sounds a little intimidating, but the idea behind dental bone grafting is actually quite straightforward.

When a tooth has been missing for some time, the jawbone in that area can gradually lose volume because it’s no longer receiving the stimulation it once did from the tooth. Bone loss can also occur for other reasons, including gum disease or injury.

If there isn’t enough healthy bone to support a dental implant, your dentist may recommend a bone graft to rebuild the volume and density of the jawbone before moving forward with implant treatment. And importantly, needing a bone graft doesn’t necessarily mean dental implants are off the table. It may simply be an additional step in your individual treatment plan.
