This long term patient had in-chair whitening with me in 2012 and had severe sensitivity after her treatment. It lasted half a day.
And although severe sensitivity post whitening is completely safe, it is not fun for anyone.
2023: Over 10 years later she was booked in with me for a hygiene appointment where I opened up the whitening conversation again.
These days I am far more educated in whitening and how to manage sensitivity.
I offered her a “low and slow” treatment approach and she was SO happy with the results.
MINIMAL TO NO SENSITIVITY
This patient was treated successfully with 6% HP for 6 weeks.
Honestly, the photos don’t do it justice.
We are taught that 10% CP is the “go to” for sensitive patients, when reality is, it still induces sensitivity when worn overnight.
So you can shorten the wear time of 10%CP or use 6% HP.
I always choose 6%HP for my sensitive cases as I feel 2-4 hours 10% CP is not effective enough. This is not fact, just my professional approach 😊
