At the close of another year, we gratefully pause to say Thank You for your loyalty and support and to wish you and your families Joy and Peace this Christmas Season and throughout the New Year.

Smile makeover to correct poor dentistry:

This patient in her mid-twenties came to us seeking a smile makeover. She had unfortunately had some previously poor dental treatment which resulted in the removal of four teeth in the middle of her smile.

Due to significant bone loss, implants were not able to be placed and Dr Peterson was able to assist the patient with bridges and veneers to recreate her best smile.

With careful preparation of the teeth and close collaboration with our master ceramist, Grant Davis, Dr Peterson was able to achieve the colour variation and lustre of a natural healthy smile.

We are thrilled that our patient now has a beaming smile to match her personality.

Another beautiful smile makeover by Simply Beautiful Smiles.

Our patient didn’t like the colour of her teeth, especially the darked two front teeth. The upper ten front teeth were heavily filled, and some of them had root canal treatment.

The brief was to improve the colour and shape of the teeth, without an overall change to the general appearance.

Dr John Wells achieved this making only small changes to the upper four front teeth, and regeneration with porcelain fused to zirconia crowns. No change was made to the bite or the position or shape of the canine teeth.

A lighter colour was chosen to “lift” the smile line.

Our patient was extremely happy with the result and smiles now, just “because”.

This was a very satisfying case to do and really enjoyable, to see our wonderful patient smiling without any reservation.

Implants, crowns and bridge for broken and missing teeth:

This lovely lady in her seventies had forgotten how to smile!

These teeth were in an advance stage of breakdown. Many broken, missing, or infected teeth, were causing acute pain and anxiety.

Her bite has collapsed and there were a lot of missing teeth at the back. Chewing ability was severely disrupted and she was unable to comfortably wear a denture.

All of her remaining teeth were restored with porcelain crowns with a zirconia base. The missing back teeth have titanium dental implants now, to support porcelain/zirconia bridges.

The bite has been reopened and the smile restored to function and aesthetics.

Our wonderful patient says she is so grateful we gave her, her confidence back!
She is so happy, and we are thrilled to have been able to help somebody who really needed their smile back.

A very satisfying and difficult case to complete.

Nails or Teeth?

We often get asked, “why is dentistry so expensive?” Well, dentistry is expensive, for a number of reasons (one of which is we are basically running a hospital and secondly, our laboratory fees to create our smiles are a significant cost of the smile). But - by what measure are they expensive?

How much does a smile cost?
An average smile at our office will usually involve 6 to 8 top teeth and will cost on average $12000 to $16000 give or take depending on underlying issues, etc.

But that smile should last a minimum of 10 years and in our experience, with our patients, a lot longer (we have been doing smiles in Penrith for over 35 years).

We check your smile with every check up and clean and those check-ups should be part of your usual maintenance for your own personal oral health and not a cost on top of the smile itself.

That works out at just $46.15 to $61.50 each fortnight (6 to 8 teeth respectively) for 10 years in today’s dollars.

Let’s look at a manicure for a price comparison:

The current general price for a manicure in Sydney with gel colour is approximately $60. That manicure should be redone every two weeks to maintain the health of the underlaying nails. At this current price, getting your nails done every 2 weeks to keep your manicure in tip top shape and to protect the health of your real nails underneath, over 10 years, this amounts to $15600. This is at the top end of our smile guide for 8 top teeth. That also does not include price increases from today’s cost of $60.

So, the prices are very similar in real terms.
Unfortunately, there is the upfront cost involved with a smile. But we have payment options that can help and many of our patients choose this option.

Isn’t your Smile more important to you?
At the end of the day, the question shouldn’t be “Why is dentistry so expensive?” but instead “Why aren’t I investing more into my smile than my nails?”. “Wouldn’t I feel great with a beautiful smile?”

This patient came to us hoping to restore her teeth after years of damage and poor maintenance. We love that we are able to create really elegant results with minimally-invasive cosmetic dentistry for patients who want their old smile back!

This particular case used 6 conservative porcelain veneers to both straighten her teeth and restore her smile to the shape and lustre of healthy teeth.
