Dental implant treatment involves the surgical placement of a titanium implant into the jawbone to replace a missing tooth or teeth. Potential risks and complications may include pain, swelling, bruising, bleeding, infection, delayed healing, implant failure or loss, damage to adjacent teeth or restorations, nerve injury resulting in temporary or permanent altered sensation, sinus complications (for upper jaw implants), bone or soft tissue loss, gum recession, loosening or fracture of implant components or the prosthesis, peri-implant disease, the need for bone grafting or other additional procedures including the possibility of further treatment or implant removal if complications occur.

Healing and adaptation differ between individuals. Most patients experience an adjustment period over the first few weeks following implant surgery, while complete healing and integration of the implant with the jawbone typically takes approximately 3-6 months before the final indirect restoration is placed.

Anyone considering Dental Implants should first undergo a comprehensive face-to-face assessment with a qualified dental practitioner and is encouraged to seek a second opinion before making a decision.

Dr Daniel is passionate about delivering exceptional dental care, with a particular interest in oral surgery, dental implants, veneers, and comprehensive smile makeovers. He has undertaken extensive postgraduate training, including a Master’s degree in Implantology, and is dedicated to advancing the profession through the education and mentorship of fellow dental practitioners in oral surgery techniques.
