DENTAL MYTH-BUSTING: TRUE OR FALSE?
There are plenty of dental myths floating around — but how many are actually true?
Let’s clear up a few common ones! 👇
❌ MYTH #1: If my teeth don’t hurt, they must be healthy.
FALSE! Many dental problems, including tooth decay and gum disease, can develop without causing pain in the early stages. That’s why regular check-ups are so important.
❌ MYTH #2: Bleeding gums are normal.
FALSE! Bleeding when brushing or flossing can be a sign of gum inflammation and shouldn’t simply be ignored.
❌ MYTH #3: Baby teeth don’t matter because they fall out anyway.
FALSE! Baby teeth are important for eating, speaking and guiding permanent teeth into position. Looking after them from an early age matters.
❌ MYTH #4: The harder you brush, the cleaner your teeth will be.
FALSE! Brushing too hard can irritate your gums and contribute to tooth wear. Gentle brushing with the right technique is much better.
❌ MYTH #5: Sugar is the only thing that causes tooth decay.
FALSE! Tooth decay is influenced by several factors, including how often teeth are exposed to sugars and acids, oral hygiene, saliva and individual risk factors.
The bottom line: Your teeth can look and feel fine while problems are developing underneath the surface.
Regular dental check-ups help us identify potential issues early and keep your smile healthy.
