What a great turn out and a stunning weekend for the 2024 .
With Orange Family Dental sponsoring the 5K event, we made sure to turn up in full support.
For those that chose not to 'run', they were still there eagerly manning the stall, sharing their dental skills with the community and being the runners biggest support crew!

Again, putting the FAMILY into our name- we had parents with their kids, both at the stall and out on the track.
A great effort by all, despite some tired bodies (and sore legs even 4days on).

Congratulations to everyone involved in this wonderful community event.

Here at Orange Family Dental, we are always learning and upgrading our skills.
Recently our team did our Annual update of our Medical Emergency Training.

We hope to never have to utilise some of the techniques learnt - but after our 3rd year of this particular training, we are feeling more equipped to be able to help our patients in any adverse situations that may arise.

Well Done Team!

This gorgeous smiling face is Clare - our Wonderful Practice Manager.

Clare is not only Amazing at her job -in the daily Managing of a busy 6 Practitioner Practice, but she also helps keep us all grounded, gives the best hugs and is our number one support. 💐

She is the BEST Practice Manager, an inspiring mentor and wonderful friend to us all.

When the days are so busy, it is easy to forget to show appreciation and thanks for all that she does for and with us- so sometimes we need a little rnudge.

What better reminder to show some appreciation than DENTAL OFFICE MANAGER APPRECIATION MONTH.

⭐So, THANK YOU CLARE!! You're The Best! (The cookies said so! 😀). And we appreciate all you do each and every day!

Dental Health week for 2023 is focusing on the health of the mouth & how it influences the rest of the body.
Almost half of the Australian population has one or more chronic diseases, & yet,
70% of people are not aware of the link between their oral health & chronic medical conditions.

⚡It has been found that there are growing connections between oral health and medical conditions such as ASPIRATION PNEUMONIA & ALZHEIMERS DISEASE:

-Bacteria from the mouth can often be inhaled. Saliva contaminated with an increased quantity of multiple bacteria species can harbour microbes that if colonised & aspirated may result in bacterial pneumonia.

-A specific species of bacteria, can move from the mouth to the brain, where it then releases enzymes that can destroy nerve cells, which in turn can lead to memory loss and eventually Alzheimer's.

⚡There are proven early connections between oral health & medical conditions such as GUT DISEASES & LUNG CONDITIONS:

- Oral health problems can be linked to poor digestive absorption & immune response. Also, Imbalances in the types of bacteria throughout your digestive system may adversely affect your oral health. There is early evidence showing that both diseases make one another worse due to increasing the body’s total inflammation.

-Bacteria from the mouth can be inhaled into the lungs. Gum disease can worsen the chronic inflammation in lung diseases such as asthma and COPD. Inflammation in the airways is one factor that leads to more frequent symptoms and lung damage.

⭐Prioritising good oral hygiene helps improve not only the health of your mouth but reduces the effects disease within the mouth may have on other chronic conditions.

If you would like more information regarding the relation between Oral Health and chronic disease, or if you would like some tips on what you can do at home our staff would be more than happy to help you.

Almost half of the Australian population has one or more chronic diseases, and yet,
70% of people are not aware of the link between their oral health and chronic medical conditions.

⚡There is a particularly strong link between severe gum disease and conditions like DIABETES and HEART DISEASE:

-Severe gum disease is now considered to be the 6th major issue with diabetes. When you have diabetes, your body tends to make less saliva—which means less protection for the teeth. Diabetes can also increase the amount of glucose in your saliva, leading to more bacterial growth and plaque build-up. In turn, having gum disease may make your blood sugar harder to control.

-Bacteria from severe gum disease can spread through the bloodstream contributing to build up within arteries and other blood vessels. Bacteria in the mouth can narrow blood vessels and increase the risk of heart attacks.

⚡There is a growing link between severe gum disease and ADVERSE PREGNANCY OUTCOMES:

-Bacterial changes from gum disease can spread to the placenta leading to possible preterm delivery, pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure) or low birth weight.

⭐Prioritising good oral hygiene helps improve not only the health of your mouth but reduces the effects disease within the mouth may have on other chronic conditions.
