Did you know there are plenty of foods that help keep your teeth and gums in tip-top shape? Here are some of our favourites:
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗳𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 – spinach, silverbeet, kale, rocket & parsley are packed with vitamins & minerals that not only are great for your overall health but also help with maintaining gum health.
𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗮 – Green tea contains special compounds called catechins, which reduce the bacteria in your mouth that otherwise turn into plaque.
𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 – Eating cheese helps to neutralise the acids from bacteria in your mouth & saliva. Its high levels of calcium and phosphate also work to rebuild and strengthen the enamel layer of your teeth.
𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 & 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 – Apples, carrots & celery are essentially nature's toothbrushes & can help remove some of the harmful plaque off your teeth. They also help stimulate saliva production, which helps to reduce the risk of gum disease and cavities.
𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 – Drinking plenty of water is really important to maintain good oral health as it helps to rinse away food particles and neutralise acid in the mouth.
While these foods are great for helping keep your teeth healthy, they’re no replacement for regular brushing, flossing and regular check-ups with your dentist. But together, they can have a big impact on your oral health!
