NSW commenced adding fluoride into our drinking water in Yass, 1956 and Sydney in 1968, and by the late 1970s, approximately 90% of NSW was fluoridated. Fluoridation continues to be the safest and ethical way to help reduce tooth decay.

When fluoride makes contact with the teeth, it helps to both reduce demineralisation and enhance remineralisation. Therefore itโs making teeth more resistant to decay, and also assists in repairing the early reversible stage of decay.
