MASTER TRACK CASE
Comprehensive OVD full mouth rehabilitation restored using the BIOCLEAR Method. This is NOT Crowns or Veneers.
The patient had been to several dentists and was told they could not do much for him, he was referred to me by another dentist.
Diagnosis:
Class 3 occlusion severe cross bite of several lower teeth.
Severe wear and erosion of the upper and lower teeth.
Collapsed occlusion
Active altered eruption
After he arrived at my surgery, I assessed his dentition and provided a few treatment options.
We discussed consultation with an oral surgeon and orthodontist to see if it would be possible to correct the malocclusion with orthodontic treatment alone, or would orthognathic surgery be required.
This patient was not interested in jaw surgery and the orthodontist decided without surgery a positive over jet would not be possible.
Even if surgery and orthodontics were undertaken there would still need to be a restorative phase.
After the patient ruled out surgery and orthodontics I decided to restore his occlusion and worn teeth using the Bioclear Method. The method allowed me to grow his teeth by wrapping them with composite, instead of cutting his teeth down to place crowns over them.
The whole case hinged on the upper left lateral incisor. From a biomechanical standpoint to take a tooth and project it into space to fix a cross bite to do instant orthodontics. Additive dentistry in inherently better than a ceramic material where you must prep the tooth. Placing a crown on a tooth like the 22 would lead to snap off failure and loss of the tooth.
Using 360 degree Bioclear veneers, which completely encase the teeth with heated composite, I raised the bite by 5mm in total. 3mm of length to the upper front teeth and 2mm to the lower front teeth. The posterior teeth were then built up to bring them back into occlusion.
The materials used were the 360 degree Bioclear veneer matrix, premolar veneer matrix and Filtek Supreme XTE flowable and paste composite in the body. Continued in comments!
