From humble beginnings… to a new beginning. 🤍
I found this photo of our firstborn sitting on a dental chair back in 1993 — and it took me right back to where it all began.
Our journey started in 1991, during what was a pretty tough economic time, when we opened our very first practice at Robina Parkway Medical Centre with second-hand dental equipment, planning our future together. We were newly married, expecting our first baby, and embarking on this journey with a lot of hard work… and perhaps more optimism than we realised! 😆
Then came Treetops Shopping Centre in Burleigh. On our very first day, we had a full book of patients… and I went into labour with our first son! 😂
For years, we went between surgeries as we slowly built our practice and our life together. We opened at Q Super Centre, and not long after, our second son was born. The photograph of our little family at the opening — our firstborn barely a year old and our second son in my arms — remains one of my favourites.
There were more chapters along the way, including Harbour Town, before we eventually built our own purpose-built Beresford Dental practice at Mermaid Waters in 2014.
And now, looking at this photo of our beautiful 8-month-old granddaughter Ava sitting in the dental chair, I realise just how wonderfully circular life can be. 🥰

We have now sold all of our surgeries, with Dr Ash taking over our final practice at Mermaid Waters.
But we’re not quite disappearing yet! 😆
We’ve decided to stay on one day a week to help with continuity of care — a gentle transition rather than simply closing the door.
And for me, there is another humble beginning waiting just around the corner…
From next week, we will be spending more time looking after our precious Ava. ❤️
So perhaps this isn’t really retirement.
It’s simply another beginning.
A little less work.
A little more family.
A lot more life.
And while one chapter closes, our legacy continues. 🤍
After all these years, I think we are ready for the next chapter. 🥰
