Smile of the Day

A sporting accident resulted in a fractured front tooth—but the story didn’t start there.

This tooth had been previously traumatised, leaving it discoloured over time, although it remained completely asymptomatic.

The patient’s main concern:
Could we restore the fracture and improve the colour at the same time?

Using a conservative approach, we rebuilt the tooth and carefully refined the shade to harmonise with the surrounding teeth—restoring both function and aesthetics in a single visit.

A great reminder that even subtle changes can make a significant difference to a smile.

Another special patient — one of our many long-standing patients, some who have trusted us for over 30 years and continue to visit even after 34 years!

This year, Dr Francesca Beresford (40 years in dentistry) and Dr Darryl Beresford, Specialist Prosthodontist (45 years in dentistry) celebrate — that’s nearly a century of combined experience! 😄 We’ve been practicing together for 34 years here on the Gold Coast, growing older alongside our patients 🤣.

Moments like this make us pause and reflect. We are deeply grateful for the trust, loyalty, and support of all the patients who have walked with us through the years. It truly has been a privilege.

As we close for the holiday season, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful patients for your continued support, loyalty, and trust in us with your dental care. It has truly been a privilege to care for you over the years.

We would also like to sincerely thank our incredible team — past and present — for their dedication, professionalism, and care. Your commitment and support are at the heart of everything we do, and we are deeply grateful for all that you contribute every day.

The practice is now closed for the holidays and will also be undergoing renovations during this time. We look forward to welcoming you back to a refreshed space when we reopen at the end of January 2026.

We are pleased to introduce our new Principal Dentist, Dr. Ash Oveissian Specialist Prosthodontist, who will be available Thursdays and Fridays from February 2026.. We are confident he will be a wonderful addition to the practice and to your ongoing care.

If you leave us a message, a member of our team will be attending to messages from 5th January.
Drs Beresford will be on holidays and will return on 27 January 2026.

If you didn’t know your age, how old would you be?

Today I saw one of my most inspiring patients, 96 years young! For the past 27 years he has never missed his 6-monthly appointment. Because of his commitment to prevention, a healthy lifestyle, and a good diet, he still has all his natural teeth and has needed very little major dental work. 🦷💙

He is probably one of the oldest patients still attending my clinic—and he has already made his next appointment in 6 months!

A healthy mouth, healthy body and mind, good nutrition, and consistency—this is the recipe for longevity. He is living proof that prevention really works.

For more than 33 years, Christiane and her late husband have been part of our dental family, bringing us not only their smiles but also their artistry.

Her husband, a talented potter, created the beautiful ceramic sets that still grace our living room. Until now , I had always known Christiane as a French teacher—only to discover she is also an accomplished artist and author.
Today, she brought in the newest edition of her beautifully illustrated children’s book about Armanis, her real-life service dog, as a special gift for our future grandchildren.

What a privilege it is to share not only dental care but also life’s stories, talents, and treasured memories with our patients.

Today, a patient brought in this beautiful orchid with a handwritten note that said:
“Thank you for sharing your personal challenges. It meant more than you can imagine. I felt much less isolated and alone.”

Over the years, a number of patients have shared how much it’s meant to them when I’ve opened up—about life, challenges, books, or moments of reflection.

It’s incredibly humbling to realise that being real, even in small ways, can make someone feel seen or supported. Dentistry may be what I do, but connection is a big part of how I try to care.

Grateful for the reminder that kindness, openness, and humanity matter. 🌸💗
