Stress doesn’t just affect how you feel, but it can also show up in your oral health.

When we’re stressed, we may unconsciously clench or grind our teeth, which can lead to:

🦷 Increased tooth wear
🦷 Tooth sensitivity
🦷 Chipped or cracked teeth
😬 Jaw pain, tension or headaches

Stress can also contribute to dry mouth, which reduces the saliva that helps protect your teeth, and changes in habits such as snacking more frequently or reaching for sugary foods and drinks.

If you notice jaw tension, headaches or worn teeth during stressful periods, it may be worth paying attention to how stress is affecting your oral health.

Looking after your teeth is another important part of looking after yourself. 🪥💙

We've all been there... 🫢

While you sleep, bacteria and plaque build up in your mouth. Brushing in the morning helps remove this build-up and freshen your breath for the day ahead.

A few simple tips:
🦷 Brush for 2 minutes
🪥 Use a fluoride toothpaste
💧 Spit, but avoid rinsing straight away to let the fluoride keep working
🍽️ If you’ve just had something acidic for breakfast, wait around 30 minutes before brushing

Brushing twice a day is one of the simplest ways to help keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Plaque is a sticky, colourless film of bacteria that constantly forms on your teeth. It develops when bacteria in your mouth mix with food and saliva.

If plaque isn’t removed regularly through brushing and flossing, it can build up around your teeth and along the gumline.

Over time, plaque can contribute to:
🦷 Tooth decay
🩸 Gum inflammation and gingivitis
😬 Bad breath

If plaque is left to harden, it can turn into tartar (calculus), which can't be removed with regular brushing and requires professional cleaning.

Keeping plaque under control starts with the basics: brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth daily, and keep up with regular dental check-ups.
