What is pink porcelain?

A cantilever bridge is a fixed dental bridge where the artificial tooth is supported by a crown or attachment on only one side, rather than being supported by teeth on both sides.

It can be useful when there is only one suitable neighbouring tooth for support, but it is not suitable for every location, particularly areas exposed to high biting forces.

Advantages of a cantilever dental bridge:

1. Only one supporting tooth is needed, unlike a conventional bridge.
2. Less tooth preparation because only one adjacent tooth is involved.
3. No surgery, unlike a dental implant.
4. Faster treatment and usually fewer appointments.
5. Can provide a fixed, natural-looking replacement for a missing tooth.
6. Can be a good option when there is no suitable tooth on the other side of the space.
7. Often more affordable than an implant, depending on the case.

The main limitation is that the supporting tooth carries additional biting forces, so careful case selection is essential. They are generally more suitable for low-load areas, particularly some anterior teeth, than for molars.
