Bleeding gums: don’t ignore the signal

If your gums regularly bleed when you brush, clean between your teeth or eat, it may be a sign of inflammation.

Plaque collecting around the gumline is a common cause. However, bleeding gums can have other causes, which is why persistent bleeding should be properly assessed.

Seeing blood does not necessarily mean that you should stop brushing or cleaning between your teeth. Continue gently with a soft toothbrush and maintain daily interdental cleaning.

At K&R Dental, we can examine your gums, discuss possible contributing factors and recommend appropriate care based on what we find.

Pain when you bite—then it suddenly disappears?

A cracked tooth does not always cause constant pain. Possible signs include:

• Sharp pain when biting or releasing pressure
• Pain that only happens occasionally
• Sensitivity to hot or cold
• A feeling that your bite has changed

These symptoms don’t necessarily mean the tooth is cracked. Decay, an existing filling or another dental problem may feel similar, so an examination is needed.

If one particular tooth repeatedly hurts when you chew, it is worth having it assessed.

You floss, rinse, and see a pink tinge in the sink. Most people assume they pressed too hard or that a little blood is just part of flossing. In most cases, that is not what is actually happening, and understanding the real reason can change how you think about your daily routine.

A gentler approach to professional dental cleaning

If cold water or tooth sensitivity makes dental cleaning uncomfortable, ask us about EMS AIRFLOW®.

The EMS AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master combines a controlled stream of air, fine powder and warm water to help remove plaque biofilm and surface stains. Its water temperature can be adjusted up to 40°C.

Before treatment, we assess your teeth and gums and tailor the cleaning method to your needs. When harder calculus is present, additional instruments may still be required.

To ask whether EMS AIRFLOW® is suitable for your next dental clean, contact our team:

Does cold water make your dental clean uncomfortable?

At K&R Dental, we use the EMS AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master for a gentler approach to professional dental cleaning.

It combines a controlled stream of air, fine powder and warm water to help remove plaque biofilm and surface stains. The water can be adjusted up to 40°C, which may be more comfortable for people with sensitive teeth.

We assess your teeth and gums first and tailor the cleaning method to your individual needs. Harder calculus may still require additional instruments.

WHAT’S WEARING YOUR TEETH?

Are your teeth looking SHORTER, FLATTER or more CHIPPED than they used to? 🦷

The wear you can see is only part of the story.

Grinding or clenching can contribute — but it isn’t always the cause.

Acid exposure, reflux, brushing technique, your bite and other factors may also play a role. Sometimes several factors are involved.

That’s why simply repairing a worn tooth may not address what’s causing the wear in the first place.

🔎 Find the cause.
🛡️ Protect the teeth.
🦷 Restore what actually needs restoring.

If you’re noticing changes in your teeth, we can assess the pattern, your bite, habits and history to help work out what may be contributing.

Want a whiter smile? Home or in-chair whitening? 👀✨

Both can work — but they’re not the same.

🏠 Home whitening: custom trays, professional whitening gel and gradual results.

🦷 In-chair whitening: professionally applied treatment when you want a faster result.

But there’s something else about whitening that most people don’t know… and we explain it in the video.

One important warning: crowns, veneers and fillings don’t whiten like natural teeth.

Not sure which option suits your smile?
