What causes tooth decay? 🦷
Tooth decay can be caused by a number of factors. Frequent sugary or acidic foods and drinks, together with plaque left on the teeth, can create an environment where decay develops.
Many people don’t realise that saliva also plays an important role in protecting your teeth. A dry mouth can increase the risk of decay because saliva helps neutralise acids and wash away food particles and bacteria.
The good news? Small habits can make a big difference. Regular brushing, flossing, staying hydrated and keeping up with your dental check-ups can all help keep decay at bay 💜
