🦷 Grinding your teeth? Waking up with jaw pain or headaches?

Botox may help reduce the muscle activity associated with teeth grinding and TMJ-related pain by relaxing overactive jaw muscles.

✨ Less muscle tension
✨ Reduced clenching and grinding
✨ Relief from jaw soreness and headaches
✨ May help protect teeth from excessive grinding forces

But Botox isn’t a one-size-fits-all treatment. The cause of your TMJ symptoms needs to be assessed first to determine whether it’s suitable for you.

Dental emergencies don't wait for Monday morning. ⏰🦷

Here's what counts as a true dental emergency—and what you should do:

🚨 Knocked-out tooth:
Pick it up by the crown (not the root), rinse gently, and try to reinsert it. If not, keep it in milk or saliva and get to a dentist within 30 minutes. ⏱️

🚨 Severe toothache:
Rinse with warm salt water, floss gently to remove debris, and take OTC pain relief. If swelling or fever accompanies it, don't wait.

🚨 Cracked or broken tooth:
Rinse with warm water, apply a cold compress to reduce swelling, and cover any sharp edges with dental wax or sugar-free gum.

🚨 Lost filling or crown:
Keep the crown if you have it, use temporary cement or toothpaste to cover the exposed area, and see us ASAP.

Pro tip: Save our number in your phone NOW—because emergencies always happen at 2 AM or on a Sunday. 📱

Botox for TMJ isn't just about aesthetics—it's about relief. 💉🦷

Here's how it works:
Your masseter muscles (the ones at the angle of your jaw) can become overdeveloped from clenching and grinding. This leads to:
• Jaw pain and stiffness 😣
• Morning headaches 🤕
• Worn-down teeth 🦷
• A wider, more square jawline

Botox gently relaxes these overactive muscles, which:
✅ Relieves jaw tension and pain
✅ Reduces teeth grinding intensity
✅ Prevents stress on the TMJ joint
✅ Can slim and contour the jawline over time

Results begin in 1–2 weeks, peak at ~4 weeks, and last 3–6 months. Quick procedure, no downtime. ✨

But here's the thing—it's not for everyone. Proper assessment, placement, and dosing are everything. Not all injectors are created equal.

🦷 Botox for TMJ Pain & Teeth Grinding — Is It Right for You?

Do you wake up with jaw pain, headaches, tight facial muscles or sore teeth from grinding or clenching?

Botulinum toxin (Botox) may be used in selected patients to reduce excessive muscle activity in areas such as the masseter and temporalis muscles. This can help reduce the force of clenching and may provide relief from muscle-related TMJ symptoms.

But here’s the important part: Botox doesn’t treat the underlying cause of every TMJ problem. 👀
TMJ symptoms can be associated with factors such as:
• Teeth grinding & clenching
• Airway and sleep problems
• Bite changes
• Tongue posture and function
• Stress and muscle tension
• Joint or disc problems

That’s why a proper TMJ assessment is important before deciding whether Botox is appropriate for you.
✨ The goal should be more than simply relaxing the muscles — it’s understanding WHY your jaw is working so hard in the first place.

👶🏻 Baby Tongue Tie & Lip Tie: What Every Mum Should Know 👄

Is your baby struggling with breastfeeding, frequently coming off the breast, making clicking sounds, or taking a long time to feed?
A tongue tie or lip tie may sometimes affect how a baby can move their tongue and achieve an effective latch.

🚩 Signs worth having assessed include:

• Difficulty latching or staying latched
• Clicking or noisy feeding
• Poor milk transfer or very long feeds
• Frequent feeding or frustration during feeds
• Dribbling milk or difficulty coordinating sucking and swallowing
• Mum experiencing ongoing ni**le pain or damage
But remember — not every baby with a visible frenulum has a problem, and not every feeding difficulty is caused by a tongue or lip tie.

A proper assessment should look at function, feeding, tongue movement and the baby as a whole, rather than simply looking at the appearance of the frenulum.

💡 If you’re concerned about your baby’s feeding, speak with a qualified healthcare professional, such as your GP, paediatrician, lactation consultant or appropriately trained dental professional.

Early assessment can help you understand what’s really going on and whether treatment is appropriate. ❤️

Did you know your jaw pain and your exhaustion might be connected? 🤯🦷

Sleep apnea doesn't just steal your energy—it can actually cause or worsen TMJ disorders. Here's how:
👇
When your airway closes during sleep, your body jolts awake to breathe. These micro-awakenings often trigger teeth grinding (bruxism) as a defense mechanism to reopen the airway.

The result? Jaw pain, headaches, and a tired TMJ joint. 😣

The good news? Treating sleep apnea has been shown to significantly improve TMJ pain. 💤✅

If you snore AND have jaw pain, it's time to talk to a professional who understands BOTH.

👶 Baby Tongue Tie & Lip Tie: Why Early

Assessment Matters
Feeding should not always be painful, stressful or exhausting for mum and baby. While not every tongue or lip tie requires treatment, restrictions can sometimes affect how a baby moves their tongue and lips, which may contribute to difficulties with breastfeeding or bottle feeding.
Signs that may be worth having assessed include:

✨ Difficulty latching or staying latched
✨ Clicking or leaking during feeds
✨ Long, frequent or tiring feeds
✨ Poor milk transfer or slow weight gain
✨ Maternal ni**le pain or damage
✨ Excessive wind or unsettled behaviour during feeds

A tongue tie or lip tie should not be diagnosed based on appearance alone. It is important to have your baby assessed by appropriately trained professionals who can evaluate function, feeding and the whole clinical picture.

Early assessment can help identify whether a restriction may be contributing to feeding difficulties and whether further support or treatment is appropriate.

If you are struggling with feeding, don’t ignore it or assume you simply have to “push through.”

Getting the right professional assessment may help you better understand what is happening and what options are available. 💙
