Baby teeth are essential for chewing, speech development, and for guiding adult teeth into the right position. So, how do we take care of baby teeth to ensure a healthy and beautiful smile in the future? Weβve got some tips for you:
1. As soon as the first baby teeth are visible, begin regularly brushing your childβs teeth using a soft-bristled childrenβs toothbrush.
2. At around 18 months, childrenβs toothpaste may be introduced. Until they turn 3, they only need a small smear of toothpaste on their toothbrush.
3. Anyone over the age of 3 only needs to use a pea sized amount of toothpaste.
4. Where possible, consumption of sweet foods should be reduced in amount, duration, and frequency.
5. Avoid letting your child sip on their bottle of milk for long periods of time (eg overnight) as this can lead to tooth decay.
