π¦· Did you know most dental problems develop completely silently?
Enamel has no nerves β so early cavities, hairline cracks, and even the beginnings of bone loss can be there for months (sometimes years) without causing any pain at all. By the time something hurts, it's usually been there a while.
It's one of the main reasons we take digital X-rays every 12β18 months alongside your regular check-ups here at Mary Street Dental.
Here's what we're looking for:
π Bitewing X-rays catch decay forming between teeth β the kind you can't see or feel yet. Found early, it's usually just a small filling. Left longer, it can mean a root canal.
π Panoramic X-rays give us the full picture β wisdom teeth, jaw joints, and the bone around every tooth. Really useful for spotting early gum disease or a hidden infection before it becomes a bigger issue.
We find that most people feel a lot better about their dental health when they understand why we do what we do. X-rays aren't just a routine box-tick β they're genuinely how we stay ahead of problems before they become painful.
If you're due for a check-up, we'd love to see you. π
