How often should I change my toothbrush?

It’s recommended to replace your toothbrush every 3–4 months.

You should also change it sooner if:

You’ve been sick (to avoid reintroducing bacteria)
The bristles are frayed or flared out

A worn toothbrush doesn’t clean your teeth properly—so if it looks tired, it’s time to toss it! 🪥🦷

WHAT IS FLUOROSIS?
Fluorosis is a condition caused by the overexposure to fluoride while teeth or bones are still developing. While fluoride in small amounts is vital for preventing tooth decay, excessive intake can lead to visible changes in the enamel.

Common Causes:
Swallowing too much fluoride toothpaste.

Business Post ABN 69 872 322 351
WHAT ARE SHARK TEETH?
'Shark teeth' happen when permanent teeth come in behind baby teeth, often due to stubborn roots or jaw crowding.

Permanent tooth buds naturally develop slightly toward the tongue side of the jaw. Sometimes they just continue on this path and erupt there rather than moving forward to take the baby tooth's spot.
This is fairly normal, but if baby teeth don't loosen after age 7-8 or if there's pain, it's time to visit your dentist! 🦷😊

16/03/2026

Tartar (also called dental calculus) is harmful because it creates a rough, hardened surface on the teeth where bacteria can easily grow. Over time, this can lead to several dental problems.

1. Gum Disease

When tartar builds up along the gumline, it irritates the gums and allows bacteria to thrive. This can cause:

Red, swollen gums

Bleeding when brushing or flossing

Gingivitis, which can progress to periodontitis (serious gum disease)

2. Tooth Decay

Tartar traps plaque and bacteria against the teeth. These bacteria produce acids that slowly damage the tooth enamel, leading to cavities.

3. Bad Breath

Bacteria living in tartar release unpleasant odours, which can cause persistent bad breath (halitosis).

4. Gum Recession

If tartar is not removed, the infection around the gums can cause them to pull away from the teeth, exposing sensitive tooth roots.

5. Tooth Loss (in severe cases)

Advanced gum disease caused by tartar buildup can damage the bone that supports the teeth, which may eventually lead to loose teeth or tooth loss.

Having a dental check-up and clean every 6 months is one of the best habits you can have for long-term oral and overall health. Here’s a few reasons why it’s so important:

🦷 1. Early Detection of Dental Problems

Regular visits allow your dentist to catch issues before they become painful or expensive, including:

Tooth decay (cavities)
Gum disease
Cracked or worn teeth
Failing fillings or crowns
Early signs of oral cancer

✨ 2. Professional Removal of Plaque & Tartar

Even with great brushing and flossing, some plaque hardens into tartar, which cannot be removed at home.

A professional clean:
Prevents gum disease
Reduces tooth decay risk
Helps prevent bad breath
Leaves your teeth smoother and brighter

❤️ 5. Supports Your Overall Health

Poor oral health is linked to:
Heart disease
Diabetes complications
Stroke
Respiratory infections
