David is an AHPRA-registered Oral Medicine Specialist whose career sits at the intersection of clinical dentistry, oncology, and academic research. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Queensland in 2012, a PhD in 2018, and a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in Oral Medicine from the University of Sydney in 2024 β with his doctoral research investigating the emergent oral manifestations of novel cancer immunotherapies and their management.
He holds Staff Specialist appointments in Oral Medicine at Campbelltown and Liverpool Hospitals, where he is a member of both the Haematology Transplant and Cellular Therapies team and the Head and Neck Service at the Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre. He is also a Clinical Fellow at Westmead Hospital and works privately with the Sydney Specialist Dental Group.
At Dental Aid '26, David will take clinicians through the full continuum of dental care for head and neck cancer patients β from screening and recognition of potentially malignant and malignant oral disease, through pre-treatment dental optimisation, to managing the complex oral complications of surgery, chemoradiation, and increasingly, immune checkpoint inhibitor therapies.
