Dental occlusion, AKA a person’s “bite” refers to the relationships between the upper and lower teeth when the mouth is closed 🤐 In other words, occlusion describes how the teeth fit together. Malocclusion refers to irregular alignment of the teeth (spacing, crowding, etc.) and/or incorrect bite/jaw relationships. Improper bite has the potential to cause problems with chewing, swallowing, speech, and has been associated with TMJ Problems. Malocclusion occurs in at least 70% of the population 😲! So although you may have relatively straight teeth, you bite may be way off 🤔! Take a look at the examples below to see if you fit into any of the categories. If yes, book in to see one of our Dentists to be properly assessed! ☺️😁
