We are excited to announce that GC Perio & Dental implants has extended its services to the central and south areas of the Gold Coast. From early November 2025, we will be operating at a new location in Varsity Lakes alongside our original practice in Runaway Bay. At this stage, we are planning to start with 1-2 days a week in Varsity Lakes, providing a full spectrum of specialist services in the field of periodontology and implant dentistry.

These are the same premises that Dr Kathleen Burke used to operate in, and we are sharing the rooms with a specialist prosthodontist, Dr Ahmed Ali.

At this early stage, we don’t have a waiting list at Varsity Lakes and we can provide our services with no or minimum delay. We appreciate your support towards our practice, and are committed to look after your patients to the best of our ability and with the highest standards of care.

We will soon have another periodontist joining our team, allowing us to increase our operating days in Varsity Lakes. We are excited to introduce them to you in the coming months.

With the recent relaxation of the restriction level on the practice of dentistry, after about 8 weeks of hibernation, we opened our doors today. We had a full day of consulting new patients, and although we can only perform a limited number of procedures that basically do not produce aerosol (droplets), it is good to be with my team again.

An update to our dear patients and referring colleagues,

Over the past few weeks a lot has happened. Firstly, Dr Tavazoei attended an international conference overseas, and on his return, he had to quarantine himself for two weeks. Unfortunately, with further spread of virus, Queensland health authorities recommended level 3 restriction for dental practitioners. Level 3 restriction means dental procedures are strictly limited to emergencies. Most dental and surgical procedures produce high amounts of aerosol that can carry large quantities of viral load which can further contaminate surrounding surfaces. It has been shown that the Coronavirus can live on some surfaces from a few hours to few days.
Unfortunately, despite all our efforts to decontaminate working surfaces after every patient, some of our patients who particularly are in a high-risk age bracket or are medically compromised may still be exposed to risk of viral infection.

In line with the issued guidelines, and in order to protect our patients and staff, we have decided to temporarily cease our services. Our phone lines are still functional and we can be contacted in case any emergencies arise. We also monitor our email regularly, providing another method of communicating with us. Unfortunately, at this stage we do not know when it will be safe to resume our activity, as even a level 4 restriction seems to be likely to be imposed on dental practitioners. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to our patients, but we all have to work together to control the spread of this life-threatening virus. Meanwhile, please stay safe, and follow the oral hygiene instructions thoroughly.

For the past two weeks we had Dela working with us as she started her school holidays early this year.
