Sometimes, less is more. At Geelong West Dental, we take the time to listen to our patients to understand their needs and goals. We combine their preferences with our professional advice to develop a personalised approach for the best possible outcome.

Jane* was referred by her family member to see us. When we checked her teeth, we detected horizontal and vertical crack lines on many of her front and back teeth due to amalgam fillings. Jane also had orthodontic treatment about 7 years ago. She never liked her laterals and canine teeth as she found them retroclined, making her smile narrow.

We discussed about protecting her cracked teeth with porcelain restorations and improving the proclination of the front teeth at the same time. Jane made it clear from the start that she did not want her new smile to be “perfectly straight”, as she wished to retain some of the unique characteristics and personality of her previous smile.

It was challenging to blend in the shade of the porcelain restorations with Jane’s existing teeth. Nevertheless, we completed this case utilising state-of-the-art CEREC technology to provide same-day porcelain crowns and veneers. At the same time, we allowed for review appointments and adjustments, ensuring a bespoke smile that feels uniquely Jane’s.

We recently completed this orthodontic treatment utilising lnvisalign® clear aligners to align teeth, relieve crowding, improve the positions of the upper and lower front teeth and achieve a wider smile. This will allow the patient to clean his teeth better and minimise premature wear of the front teeth.

It is not always about having veneers on all your teeth, or replacing all your teeth with dental implants. At Geelong West Dental, we believe in educating patients about the importance of their own natural teeth, which will always be better than any form of replacement.

In this case, the patient lost her upper front teeth due to gum disease. We made an interim upper partial denture for her while providing periodontal treatment to stabilise the remaining teeth. Once stable, we replaced the missing upper front teeth with implant-supported porcelain bridge, thereby restoring form, function and aesthetics.

Another completed case of lnvisalign® clear aligners at Geelong West Dental. Rodney* initially came to us for an advice on how to correct his bite as he had difficulty chewing food properly.
With lnvisalign® clear aligners, we improved Rodney's bite and closed spaces between his teeth, thereby restoring function and aesthetics. The treatment took about 2 years due to Rodney being away overseas.

Thomas* came to our practice with extreme dental fear from previous traumatic dental experience. He also wanted to explore options for his very loose teeth. At the end of the day, he wished to be able to eat and have a new smile.
We removed the existing teeth and placed 8 upper and lower dental implants for Thomas under sedation. He gradually became more comfortable with the team and we successfully completed the upper overdenture and lower fixed bridge prosthesis, restoring function and aesthetics.

This Melbourne patient came to see us for a second opinion regarding the management of his teeth. He would like to improve his smile and be able to clean his teeth better due to crowding.

After discussing all treatment options, we started with the removal of unsalvagable teeth and lnvisalign® clear aligners to align the teeth.

After the completion of orthodontic treatment, the patient did whitening before we proceeded with the upper porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges. The crown and bridge work addressed a few concerns at the same time: shape, size and colour of existing upper teeth, as well as replacing the missing left tooth.

The next step will be to replace the upper right missing teeth with dental implants, however the patient can already notice the difference in the aesthetics of his smile and cleaning his teeth.
