I can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am to everyone who took the time to read and comment on our last posting, when I was diagnosed with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, ie throat cancer.
I was truly overwhelmed by the responses and cherish every one of them.
As an update, I am around halfway through the chemo radio process. I can’t deny it’s been a rough ride, but I’m getting there. I’m told there will be a period following treatment where the effects of the treatments worsen. The advice varies and the stories I read on the support group pages have become a bit off-putting to be honest.
Selina and the team have been nothing short of amazing and it’s hard to show how grateful I am. Drs Kathryn and Amanda are looking after everyone with exceptional care.
Hopefully I’ll be up and about soon and moseying about my beloved Fremantle again. I’m planning to be fine for the Grand Final!!

I am sorry to tell you that after having been admitted to hospital last week and undergoing some testing, I will be unable to return to work for some time.
Many of you have become much more than patients to me over the years and I feel terrible having to inconvenience so many of you at one time.
My wife Alison has had terrible luck with her health over the last few years, and I know many of you will already have been impacted by some of the time I had to dedicate to her treatment.
It seems that it is now my turn!
Selina and the amazing team are all doing their very best to minimise the disruptions. Please be patient with my staff as they manage the reorganising of my busy workload.
My associate Dr Kathryn is an in incredible person and dentist. Along with the team alongside us – Dr David Yu and Dr Rachel Chew of Fremantle Dentist – you will be looked after as best as we can manage under the circumstances.
There will inevitably be times where we are unable to provide immediate care. Again, please be understanding.

Congratulations to Selina for her 10 year work anniversary.
Longevity in the workplace is becoming more scarce these days and I can’t express my appreciation enough for the dedication and loyalty she has shown.
