🦷 Cavity prevention isn’t just about brushing.
One of the major risk factors for dental caries is dry mouth.
Saliva is one of our natural defences against tooth decay — it helps wash away food, neutralise acids and protect our teeth.
Breathing through the mouth, or simply leaving the mouth open for extended periods, can dry the oral tissues and reduce this natural protection.
That’s why, keeping lips comfortably closed and breathing through the nose whenever possible is part of everyday oral health routine too.
Of course, the basics still matter: floss, brush with fluoride toothpaste, don’t rinse straight afterwards, and limit frequent sweet and sticky snacks.
Healthy teeth. Healthy saliva. Healthy breathing. 🦷👃
